Me, Myself and Manet

Following an 8 month campaign in 2012, the Ashmolean Museum saved Manet’s 1868 Portrait of Mademoiselle Claus for the public. With lead support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and gifts from The Art Fund and hundreds of individual donors, the painting will now be on permanent public display.

Encompassing in-depth community projects, a national tour and activities offered through our core learning programmes, this ambitious public engagement programme enabled as many people as possible to access and engage with the painting.

The blog, Me, Myself & Manet, documents the activities of the 2014 Outreach Activities around the painting.

The Saving Manet for the Nation page on the Ashmolean website contains links to the evaluation report and case studies of some of the in-depth community projects surrounding the project.
