The collections housed in Oxford University’s Gardens, Libraries and Museums are some of the world's most significant - they cover the breadth and depth of the natural world, global art and artefacts. The CTRC is the new sector-leading resource for staff, researchers and students, offering unprecedented access to – and care for – Oxford University collections, all in one central Oxford space.
Conservation analysis techniques at the Ashmolean include optical microscopy, ultraviolet and infrared photography, portable X-ray fluorescence and spectrophotometry, with more techniques available within Oxford University and via our external partners.
The Bodleian Libraries undertake or facilitate the scientific analysis of collections in support of clearly defined and well-justified research questions, where the condition of the collection permits such examination.
The museum features dedicated facilities including a specialist library, an image and visualisation suite, as well as micropalaeontology, acid digestion, and conservation laboratories.
The museum houses the Balfour Library, photographic services, loans, documenting and digitising fieldwork, research room and documentation, and research information.
