Opportunities for collaborative research with GLAM

GLAM leads and collaborates in projects that explore and expand the reach of our unique collections. We welcome proposals for collaboration with GLAM from scholars within the University of Oxford and from higher education institutions and cultural heritage institutions from within and beyond the UK. Explore our existing research projects here.

GLAM also provides occasional funding for research and impact activities, including fellowship opportunities, and we welcome visiting scholars who wish to use our collections for an extended period.

Collaborate on a research funding application

Researchers seeking collaboration with GLAM in an application to a funding body are encouraged to engage with the department at the earliest possible stage in their proposal development: contact the relevant departmental Head of Research (see table below) and the GLAM Research and Impact team (research@glam.ox.ac.uk) about your project idea.

For the Ashmolean Museum, Bodleian Libraries and Pitt Rivers Museum, you will be asked to complete an ‘intent to apply' form’.

If the collaboration also involves our public engagement teams then please contact them directly via the contacts on the public and community engagement with research webpage.

The Bodleian Libraries offer funded visiting fellowships to scholars who will benefit from an uninterrupted period of research at the libraries. For more information and to apply go to the Fellowships page on the Bodleian Libraries website.

If you interested in spending an extended period of time at one of our four museums or gardens to carry out your research then please contact the relevant departmental Head of Research above.

GLAM also supports applications to externally funded postdoctoral schemes such as the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships scheme and the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships scheme. See the Postdoctoral research opportunities page for more information
